r|break: day at comic-con '06

[boba fett, moi, random storm trooper]
friday at annual comic-con
"no, i did not leave my princess leia costume at home."

"i had no idea what/who boba fett is/was until yesterday."

"hot guys at the conference? hmmmm ... "

[i had to check how to spell princess 'leah' and 'bohbafed' ...
otherwise, i would have spelled them as i just typed them.]

back story ... my friend, ren, has 15,000+ comics, and two years ago, he introduced me to super heroes beyond the traditional and more well-known TV show justice league early-on with superman (... had NO IDEA of others! and a fav - bouncing boy?!). i attended '04 comic-con. fun, different, wildly popular, crowded, intense, adult a.d.d. world, unbelievable.

'06 comic-con office-outting ... todd and i met with ren for the festivities! (san diego convention center air-conditioned enough)

so pix from our outting for your enjoyment. and trivia i learned by observing the comic-con folks ...

todd may have lost out on a really good deal on a green hornet ring ... catwoman, batgirl, robin, batman speak english and some spanish ... flash carries a back-pack around and may be filipino ... gals wear funky booby-things (and then some) ... storm troopers can kinda be hot.

o.k. - more pix later ... i must continue to perspire and work in this heat!
(conserve electricity!)

Shirl,

I never pictured you for a Comic-Con fan (maybe that's too strong a word). But think of the possibilities for your next short story...DG Girl (Distributed Goodness): Wide-ranging energy consultant by day, lovelorn West Coast superheroine by night. Able to leap tall mounds of red tape with a single bound; faster than a local bureaucrat speeding toward lunch break; and defender of peace, justice, and the American Way (free market principles with a hint of democracy). Coming to a theater near you...

Like floyd, I was thinking of the short story possibilities too.

How about a series of dates a single attractive woman has with guys she met Comic-Con? #1 may have the habit of every once in a while speaking in Klingon; #2 may be obsessed with a comic book character who he thinks our heroine resembles, and #3 may be the next Kevin Smith with whom she lives happily ever after.

On second thought, much too cliche. Perhaps she picks bachelor # 2 and goes on to live a wacky double life as the superhero with #2 as her side-kick.
